"IF MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER WERE TO WALK THROUGH THE FACTORY TODAY, HE WOULD RECOGNISE A LOT. WE REMAIN A MANUFACTURE IN THE TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD – JUST AS WE WERE IN THE VERY EARLY YEARS OF OUR COMPANY HISTORY." Oliver Berking
Nicolaus Christoph Robbe, great great grandfather of the current owner, founded the Flensburg silversmiths. He was distinguished by his modesty and skill. In 1897, a very talented assistant was appointed: Robert Berking came from the respected Braunschweig Bürgerhaus. He had learned the silversmith trade in his home town and completed his master craftsman certificate.
Silversmiths and goldsmiths are some of the oldest professions in the metal trades. These professions require the utmost in workmanship and artistic creativity. The finest materials and the high art of the silversmith continue to make the difference when it comes to the unrivalled quality of each and every Robbe & Berking product.
Manu factum: Made by hand. There are not many of us left, but that is precisely what motivates us and what has made us what we are. Since 1874. Others may make it cheaper but none may be better.
The steel cutting and embossing tools used to create the different cutlery designs are carefully manufactured by hand at Robbe & Berking. There are over 2,000 moulds of this kind. If you purchase a precious piece of silver or silverplate cutlery from the Robbe & Berking collection, you have the security of being able to purchase additional pieces for the range until at least 2040.
